Process
At Elevated Rails, we realize the reason that we develop software isn’t to build an application, it is to solve a business problem. That’s why we’re as proud of our business degrees as we are of our software development degrees. We want to help you create as much business value as possible. To do that, we follow several practices:
First, we use agile methodologies to make sure we are doing the right work at the right time. We have a conversation about your goals, and work with you to break down your needs into small, deliverable chunks. By giving you working software every two weeks, we make sure the work we are doing not only meets your needs, but also creates value for your business.
Secondly, we make sure the software we deliver is well tested. We are willing to guarantee at least 90% automated test coverage of all delivered software. It’s so important to us that we’re willing to write it into our contracts. If we don’t do the testing, you don’t pay for the software. Testing isn’t something we do once a month either. All of our developers write the tests before they write the code. It helps us keep the software simple and makes sure we deliver what you need.
Third, we can manage your hosting. We will take care of hosting your application on our dedicated server cluster. We will take care of the setup, maintenance and backups of your data. We realize that you don’t want to have to be an expert in the technologies we use. After all, that’s why you hired us.
Finally, we embrace change. We understand your needs can change. By using agile development methodologies and testing our code, we can evolve with you. We’ve all worked on big projects with nightmarish change control procedures and we hate them. We want to make sure we deliver something to help your business. If your business changes, your software changes. It’s as simple as that.
We’re confident in our abilities. In fact, some might even call us cocky. That’s okay, we’ll put our money where our mouth is. Give us a try. If you don’t like what you see after the first release, don’t pay us. If you’re not happy, you don’t pay. It’s as simple as that.
